Sixty of Aotearoa's Leading Makers Reimagine the Collar for New Zealand Fashion Week
One garment detail. Sixty creative interpretations.
An extraordinary collection of some of Aotearoa's most celebrated designers, artists and makers will come together during New Zealand Fashion Week for a one-night-only exhibition exploring one of fashion's most enduring forms: the collar.
COLLAR transforms this everyday garment into an object of art, inviting 60 makers from across weaving, jewellery, costume, fashion, textiles and contemporary craft to create a bespoke collar that reflects their individual practice.
Presented as a single suspended installation, the exhibition reveals the remarkable breadth of contemporary making in Aotearoa. Each piece has been personally designed and handcrafted, celebrating material exploration, technical skill and the enduring value of creating by hand.
The exhibition features work from an outstanding line-up of creatives including Steven Park, NOM*d, Catherine Griffiths, Christopher Duncan, Gloria, Doris de Pont, Skimshand, Michele Clapton, Wynn Hamlyn, Zambesi, Kiri Nathan, Jimmy D, Emma Jing, Shayna Quinn Bowyer and Welfe Bowyer, Nichola Shanley, Lela Jacobs, Orswo, Outlines, Annabella Schnabel, Nicole Pollard and many more of New Zealand's leading creative talents.
The exhibition takes place for one night only at Hardcore on Karangahape Road, with visitors invited to enjoy a complimentary drink on arrival, kindly supplied by Pegasus Bay Wines and Wilder Fizzy.
